Is it February already?

Saturday, February 7th 2015 • Black Hill Press, Books

I remain unconvinced! How can it already be February? Well, it’s been busy. That’s my only excuse!

On Monday, I got to be on an amazing Black Hill Press panel with some incredible authors. I always love the chance to hang out at Book Soup. It’s seriously a labyrinth of books with all these great places to just hang out and read. I got there about an hour or so early just to explore. Sometimes, that’s the best part.

Here's me with my babies at Book Soup. What a blast!

In addition, I’ve also partnered with Black Hill Press to do a Valentine’s Day giveaway of Mara. Check it out below and don’t forget to like the Facebook page for updates!

Until next time, wonderful people!

Have you ever wondered about a writer’s routine?

Wednesday, December 31st 2014 • Black Hill Press

Black Hill Press has launched a new project called #Routineology to give readers meaningful insight into the real routines of writers. I was thrilled to share my routine as part of the project. The best part is that Black Hill Press wants to know your routine, too!

From their website:

#Routineology is a project-based study of creative routine. Black Hill Press, a publishing collective founded on collaboration, is asking writers to share their routine. We’re curious how writers around the world write and we want to view your photos, watch your videos and read your essays about the process. Every week, we will post a new submission. Every year, we will publish an academic report detailing our research. Be creative, test your lighting, and have fun.

So what are you waiting for? Go on out there and share your #Routineology! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

PS. If you’re wondering why posts have been sparse, it’s because the writing has been plentiful. I’m so excited for the new year… here’s hoping that you’ll be reading all of this soon!

Announcing BHPX!

Tuesday, November 25th 2014 • Black Hill Press

Good evening dear readers!

I write to you tonight while listening to holiday music, and I’m well aware that it’s far too early. I’m a little concerned that this action scene that I’m writing is going to have a slightly jolly angle by the end of this, so the consequences are real. Then again, maybe that’s how Die Hard was made, so I’ll worry about that later.

The real reason I’m updating is to announce that Black Hill Press has launched BHPX, and you can now enjoy the first ten pages of Mara and Miyuki right there on the website. In fact, the first ten pages of all Black Hill Press novellas can now be experienced this way! So, what are you waiting for? Head on over and check it out.

Until next time,

Stop! Panel Time!

Wednesday, April 16th 2014 • Black Hill Press, Books, Miyuki

I had an amazing time this weekend as a panel member for Chapman University’s discussion on the author’s responsibility in the 21st century. For those of you that don’t know, I attended Chapman as an undergraduate and am absolutely in love with my alma mater. Anytime that I can visit Chapman is a day well spent!

As soon as I arrived at the good ol’ Leatherby Library, I wandered around with fellow author, Kate St. Clair. She can vouch that I shrieked a bit when I found Mara in the library. Look at it! It’s so beautiful with its library binding!

We answered lots of amazing questions from Creative Writing students, and the panel discussion was recorded for Black Hill Press’s podcast “The How and the Why” (check it out here). Give it a listen!

If you couldn’t make this awesome event, have no fear. There are more coming up in May that I am very excited about. I’ll keep you posted!

Until then, don’t forget to let me know what you thought of Miyuki. I’d love to hear from you all.
